Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI

The Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI, developed by EIMT, is designed for people who want to go beyond writing pipelines and become the engineers who build the data foundation modern AI systems run on. The program begins with Python, SQL, and modern lakehouse concepts, followed by Apache Spark, PySpark, and Delta Lake, including schema management, time travel, and performance tuning.

It then covers batch and streaming ingestion, CDC pipelines, medallion architecture, Databricks Lakeflow orchestration, and governance through Unity Catalog. Azure Databricks and Azure data integration build cloud engineering skills.

In this program, you also explore Generative AI applications in data engineering, including context engineering, semantic layers, vector search, RAG pipelines, and AI agents with governed enterprise data. Electives cover Snowflake, Snowpark, and dbt.

Upon completion, you can move into roles such as Data Engineer, Senior Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or Big Data Engineer, across industries building both traditional data platforms and GenAI-powered applications.

Program Goals & Objectives

Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI

Online Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI helps data professionals build the systems that power modern analytics and AI applications. The program covers the complete lakehouse stack, from Spark and Delta Lake through Databricks Lakeflow and Unity Catalog governance, before extending into vector search, RAG and agentic data engineering. Delivered live online, it suits those engaged in a full-time job while also building skills relevant to industry certification paths.

Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI

  • Eligibility : A working knowledge of Python and SQL is required. Prior experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, Azure, Snowflake, dbt, or Generative AI is not required
  • Min. Duration : 66 hours of learning with over 20+ modules, alongwith self-paced electives
  • Enrolment : Being online, registration remains open throughout the year, with new batches launched regularly.

Why Choose the Advanced Certification in Data Engineering with GenAI?

Faculty Who Have Real Data Engineering Experience

Faculty bring hands-on experience designing lakehouse architectures and governed data pipelines for real organisations. Their feedback on your labs reflects what actual platform teams expect.

Labs Developed Around Actual Engineering Problems

Every module pairs with a hands-on lab, from diagnosing a skewed Spark join to building a governed MCP server over Unity Catalog. Assessment happens through the practical work you do in your labs and assignments.

Curriculum Aligned With Industry Demands

Traditional pipeline and warehouse skills sit alongside vector search, RAG, and MCP, so you are not learning a version of data engineering that stops in 2020. Governance and AI-readiness are treated as core skills.

Online Learning With Faculty Support

The program runs online, while giving you the opportunity to ask questions and resolve any problems encountered during the sessions. This provides flexibility without learning completely on your own.

Accredited Certification From EIMT

On successful completion, you receive a Data Engineering with GenAI Certificate from EIMT, an accredited institution with a legacy of delivering online programs. The certificate provides recognised proof of your skills and learning.

Skills Aligned to Recognised Industry Certifications

The curriculum supports preparation for the Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate exam and the Microsoft DP-750 exam. Besides learning the tools, you are also building skills toward externally recognised industry benchmarks.

A Structure That Moves from Fundamentals to Applied AI

The program is sequenced so foundational engineering skills come first, governance and cloud deployment come next, and GenAI applications come last. Each new skill builds on the knowledge and practical experience developed in the previous stages.

Program Outcomes:

  • Design Lakehouse Architectures: Apply medallion architecture and dimensional modelling to structure Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers for analytics and AI use cases. You will be comfortable designing a data platform from scratch.
  • Build Batch, Streaming and CDC Pipelines: Use Auto Loader, structured streaming and Change Data Feed to move data reliably from source systems into governed tables. You will be able to handle both scheduled loads and near-real-time data flows.
  • Optimise Spark and Delta Lake Workloads: Diagnose skewed joins, shuffle bottlenecks and slow queries, then fix them using techniques like Z-Order, liquid clustering and Adaptive Query Execution. Students will know how to make a slow pipeline fast, not just make a pipeline that runs.
  • Orchestrate Production Pipelines with Lakeflow: Build declarative pipelines with data quality expectations, task dependencies, scheduling and alerting using Databricks Lakeflow Jobs. Graduates will be able to take a pipeline from notebook to production workflow.
  • Implement Unity Catalog Governance: Apply row-level security, column masking, PII classification and lineage tracking across a data estate. Graduates will be able to meet the governance expectations enterprises increasingly demand from data teams.
  • Deploy and Secure Azure Databricks Environments: Configure networking, secret scopes and Entra ID integration, and automate deployments using CI/CD and Databricks Asset Bundles. Graduates will be ready to operate in a real cloud production environment.
  • Develop Governed RAG and Vector Search Pipelines: Design embedding pipelines, vector search indexes and retrieval-augmented generation applications on top of governed enterprise data. Graduates will understand how to build these systems and when they are the right architectural choice.
  • Transition into Modern Data Engineering: Finish the program with ample practical work behind you. After this program, you will be ready for roles like Data Engineer, Senior Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer or Big Data Engineer.
